Roots Recording Artist Grant Maloy Smith and Hollywood TV Writer Michael Jamin

December 28th, 2021

On today's show we have Billboard Top 10 American Roots Recording Artist, Author, Actor, Illustrator and friend of The Big Fat Joey Show, Grant Maloy Smith and Hollywood writer/producer and showrunner Michael Jamin.

Grant and I met a few years ago at Lincoln Center while he was performing with the Indie Collaborative. (See below for details).

While having time on his hands these past two years, Grant has taken it upon himself to make another HIT album, 'Appalachia: American Stories'.

This album consists of 12 original songs inspired by people, events and different aspects of Appalachian culture.

Also, for true audiophiles, Grant has put together a collectors 'Box Set' that consists of an LP, CD and personalized autographed book, by Grant, that highlights the Appalachia ways and culture.

***This is a MUST HAVE for all you American Roots and Appalachia fans.

Grant is also the co-founder of the Indie Collaborative, a non-profit network of independent musical artists, producers and like-minded musical enthusiasts.

Also on today's show we have Hollywood writer Michael Jamin.

Michael gives us a behind the scenes look at what it's like to be a writer in Hollywood.

He's written for some of TV's biggest shows:

King of the Hill, Beavis & Butthead, Wilfred, Just Shoot Me, Brickleberry, Lopez, Rules of Engagement and Tacoma FD.

He's also served as a show Producer/Showrunner on Glen Martin DDS, Maron and Rhett & Link's Buddy System.

His illustrious 25 year career has afforded him many experiences and insight into the inner workings of Hollywood and TV writing. So much so that he has developed his own podcast, 'Screenwriters Need To Hear This With Michael Jamin'.

His podcast focuses on helping aspiring writers, actors and directors understand the business from the perspective of a working television writer.

Catch new episodes every Wednesday on Apple, Spotify, Stitcher and anywhere you listen to your favorite podcast.

Michael also posts regularly on Instagram and Twitter. His insight into the biz is relevant, spot-on and informative.

For those who are truly interested in upping their writing game, Michael has developed a no nonsense writing course that will put you on the right course, pun intended, to success.
